Do you struggle with making time for workouts and maintaining a positive attitude with your health?  Have you considered pilates but just don’t know if it’s the right fit for you? Maybe you’ve struggled with a past injury or soreness with past workouts.  There is a solution and you don’t have to hate your workouts or spend hours sweating your butt off in order to get healthier and in better shape.

Listen to the podcast HERE

In this episode I talk with Rebecca Beckler.  Rebecca is no stranger to having to work hard and overcome adversity. In 2012 one of her daughters was diagnosed with Leukemia.  Unable to have time to go to the gym, she developed a pilates body suspension method and now is on a mission to teach that to others.  She encourages those who want to work at home to try this out, and tells us how 30 minutes a day can be enough to really get in shape and change our body composition.

Questions I asked:

  • Can someone who has been injured get in great shape?
  • What should our day to day diet look like?
  • How often should you eat a day?
  • Do I need to work out for a long time to get in shape?

Topics Discussed:

  • Keeping a positive mindset.
  • How long do you need to workout?
  • How our diet plays into getting in shape.
  • How feeling better helps us overall.

Quotes from the show:

  • “It doesn’t have to be crazy hard to live a healthy life.” @pilates949 @LindaMitchell #SisterhoodofSweat

  • Build yourself up rather than beat yourself up.” @LindaMitchell #SisterhoodofSweat

Every hardship you go through can be bringing you through the fire fine-tuning you for your greater purpose. The hardships I once cried about, I celebrate now.

Do you struggle with taking pride in yourself?  Do you feel like you should or shouldn’t have pride?  In this episode we dive into the importance of how we carry ourselves and how we have pride in the way we look and feel.  But even on a deeper scale than that, how do we get to that point? It takes being introspective and really discovering our deep thoughts and feelings on different issues.

Drinking alcohol is portrayed as tons of fun, socially acceptable, and the norm.  But should it be the norm? Do you struggle with alcohol? Maybe not on a deep level to where it affects your day to day activities, but enough for you to notice some differences in your performance at work and everyday life?  Does giving up alcohol mean no more fun in life?

Listen to the podcast HERE

In this episode I talk with Kate Bee who knew she needed a break from the alcohol.  Turning to Alcoholics Anonymous seemed to be her only choice, but she found that she wasn’t in the category of it controlling her life, and found that there were no other groups or organizations dealing with the topic.  This inspired Kae B to start her own mission to help people who are in the in between stages of drinking recreationally and an alcoholic. So she started the Sober School.

Questions I asked:

  • How did you come to start the sober school?
  • What was your turning point?
  • How do you know when you are drinking too much.
  • Why do we socially drink?
  • How does our drinking affect others.

Topics Discussed:

  • How to have fun without alcohol.
  • Recognizing when alcohol begins to interfere with your life.
  • Feeling like you are standing out if you don’t drink.
  • How to politely not drink in a crowd.
  • Shame and alcohol.

Quotes from the show:

  • “You don’t need to let things get bad before you get help.” @thesoberschool
  • “Is this good enough to stay in my life?” @thesoberschool
  • “You have to be careful with the story you are telling yourself.” @thesoberschool
  • “We all need a bit of tough love sometimes.” @thesoberschool
